Lip blushing treatment — Aesthetics by Erina, Wylie TX
Overview

Your lips, elevated.

Lip blushing is a semipermanent cosmetic tattoo that deposits soft, diffused pigment into the lips — enhancing their natural shape, evening out uneven tone, and adding a flush of color that looks effortlessly your own. Think of it as your lips on their best day, every day.

Unlike a full lip tattoo, lip blushing uses a light, buildable technique that gives a natural, almost-your-lip effect. The color is customized to complement your skin tone, and the outline is designed to subtly define your shape without looking drawn-on. Results last 1–2 years with proper care, and most clients come back annually to keep the color fresh.

What it does
  • Adds soft, buildable color
  • Defines & enhances lip shape
  • Corrects uneven pigmentation
  • Creates fullness without filler
  • Semipermanent (1–2 years)
  • No liner required
Preparation & aftercare

What to expect.

  • 4 weeks prior: avoid lip fillers or any injections in the lip area.
  • 2 weeks prior: stop using Retin-A, retinoids, or any exfoliating lip treatments.
  • 24 hours before: avoid blood thinners (Aspirin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Niacin) and alcohol.
  • Day of: arrive with clean, product-free lips. Skip caffeine and stimulants.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, take antiviral medication beginning 3 days before your appointment — treatment can trigger an outbreak without it.
  • Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early for paperwork. Late arrivals may need to reschedule.

  • A topical numbing cream is applied to the lips before we begin — comfort is a priority.
  • We'll design your lip shape together before any pigment is applied. Your input matters.
  • The full session takes approximately 2–3 hours, including mapping, numbing, and tattooing.
  • Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or vibration — not painful.

  • Lips will appear significantly darker and slightly swollen immediately after — this is expected.
  • Days 3–7: lips will peel and the color will appear to fade dramatically. This is part of the healing process.
  • Final color settles at 4–6 weeks once the skin fully regenerates. It will be much softer than day one.
  • Keep lips moisturized with the aftercare balm provided. Avoid picking or peeling.
  • Avoid sun exposure, saunas, swimming, and exfoliating products for at least 2 weeks.
Common questions

Lip Blushing FAQs.

Yes — that's the entire point. Lip blushing is designed to enhance what you already have, not transform it. The pigment is applied in a soft, diffused technique that mimics the natural flush of your lips. We choose a shade together based on your skin tone and goals, so it always looks like you.

The lips are sensitive, but a topical numbing cream is applied before we start and reapplied as needed throughout. Most clients find it very manageable — mild vibration and pressure rather than pain. I always check in with you during the session.

Lip blushing typically lasts 1–2 years depending on your skin type, sun exposure, and lifestyle. Lips fade faster than brows because the skin regenerates more quickly — most clients come back annually for a touch-up to keep the color vibrant and defined.

Absolutely. We'll select your shade together at your appointment based on your natural lip tone, skin undertone, and your goal — whether that's a barely-there nude, a rosy everyday flush, or something with more definition. I'll guide you toward what will look best healed, not just in the chair.

Yes, but you'll need to take an antiviral medication (like Valtrex) starting 3 days before your appointment and continuing through healing. The trauma from the tattooing process can trigger an outbreak in those with the HSV-1 virus. Please let me know when you book so we can plan accordingly — skipping this step can compromise your results.

Lip blushing is not appropriate for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have active cold sores or lip infections, a history of keloid scarring, or certain autoimmune or blood conditions. Recent lip filler (within 4 weeks) also requires a waiting period. I'll review your health history at your appointment.

Your session includes the initial treatment and an aftercare kit. Most clients return annually for a touch-up as the color fades — that appointment is priced separately.

My schedule fills quickly and my time is limited. A deposit confirms your commitment — and every dollar goes directly toward your treatment cost. Deposits are non-refundable, but rescheduling is welcome with one week's notice.

Lip blushing is a semipermanent cosmetic tattoo — also called a lip blush tattoo — that deposits soft, diffused pigment into the lips to enhance their natural shape and color. Unlike a traditional lip liner tattoo, lip blushing covers the entire lip area in a light, buildable technique that gives a natural flush. Results last 1–2 years.

Lip blushing at Aesthetics by Erina costs $750, which includes your initial 2–3 hour session and aftercare kit. Annual touch-up appointments are available separately. A $100 deposit is required at booking.

No — lip blushing is semipermanent. The pigment gradually fades as your lip skin regenerates, typically over 1–2 years. Most clients return annually for a touch-up appointment to maintain vibrant color.

Lip blushing adds color and subtle definition using pigment — it does not add volume. Lip filler uses hyaluronic acid injections to physically add volume and structure. Both can be combined, but there must be a 4-week wait between lip filler and lip blushing.

A topical numbing cream is applied to the lips before treatment and reapplied throughout the session. Most clients describe the sensation as mild vibration or pressure rather than pain. The full session takes approximately 2–3 hours.

Yes, but antiviral medication (such as Valtrex) must be taken starting 3 days before the appointment and continued through healing. The tattooing process can trigger an HSV-1 outbreak in susceptible clients. Let Erina know at booking so preparation can be planned in advance.
