Preparation & aftercare

  • 4 weeks prior: avoid lip fillers or any injections in the lip area.
  • 2 weeks prior: stop using Retin-A, retinoids, or any exfoliating lip treatments.
  • 24 hours before: avoid blood thinners (Aspirin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Niacin) and alcohol.
  • Day of: arrive with clean, product-free lips. Skip caffeine and stimulants.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, take antiviral medication beginning 3 days before your appointment — treatment can trigger an outbreak without it.
  • Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early for paperwork. Late arrivals may need to reschedule.

  • A topical numbing cream is applied to the lips before we begin — comfort is a priority.
  • We'll design your lip shape together before any pigment is applied. Your input matters.
  • The full session takes approximately 2–3 hours, including mapping, numbing, and tattooing.
  • Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or vibration — not painful.

  • Lips will appear significantly darker and slightly swollen immediately after — this is expected.
