Microneedling treatment — Aesthetics by Erina, Wylie TX
Overview

Your skin's reset button.

Microneedling — also called Collagen Induction Therapy — is a minimally invasive treatment that creates tiny, controlled micro-channels in the skin. This triggers your body's natural healing response, boosting collagen and elastin production exactly where you need it most.

The result is progressive: smoother texture, faded acne scars and hyperpigmentation, tighter skin, and a healthy glow that builds over the weeks following treatment. It works for nearly every skin tone and type.

What it treats

Common questions

Microneedling FAQs.

A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment, so discomfort is minimal. Most clients describe the sensation as a mild vibration or warmth. Some areas of the face are more sensitive than others, but the overall experience is very tolerable.

Most clients see meaningful improvement after 3–6 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart. For maintenance, 1–2 sessions per year is typical. I'll recommend a personalized plan at your appointment based on your skin and goals.

Initial brightening and smoothing can often be visible within a week as the skin heals. Deeper improvements — texture, scars, firmness — build gradually over 4–6 weeks as your skin produces new collagen. Results continue to improve with each subsequent session.

Face, neck, décolletage, and hands. It's particularly effective for the cheeks, forehead, and areas with acne scarring or uneven texture.

Microneedling is not appropriate for active acne breakouts, open wounds, or skin infections at the treatment site. Clients who are pregnant, have a history of keloid scarring, or are on certain blood-thinning medications may not be suitable candidates. I'll review your health history at your appointment.

For most clients, 3–6 sessions spaced approximately 4 weeks apart is the recommended starting course. Clients targeting acne scarring typically need 4–6 sessions; those focusing on anti-aging or texture often see significant results in 3. For maintenance, 1–2 sessions per year is typical.

Yes — microneedling is one of the most effective non-laser treatments for acne scarring, particularly for pitted or rolling scars. By stimulating collagen remodeling in the scarred tissue, each session gradually softens the scar's appearance. Clients typically need 4–6 sessions for significant improvement in moderate scarring.

Expect redness similar to a mild sunburn for 24–48 hours following treatment. Most clients return to normal activities the following day, though strenuous exercise, direct sun exposure, and heavy skincare products should be avoided for 24–48 hours. There is no peeling or extended downtime.

Yes — microneedling is safe for all skin tones, including darker Fitzpatrick skin types (IV–VI), because it does not use heat or laser energy that can cause hyperpigmentation in melanin-rich skin. This makes it a particularly good option for clients of color seeking to address acne scarring or uneven tone.
